چکیده
Background The ophthalmic features of giant cell arteritis (GCA) involve a spectrum severity from transient symptoms to bilateral visual loss anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy or less commonly central retinal cilioretinal artery occlusion. Reported ocular involvement varies between 10-70%. 1,2 . At the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital an interdisciplinary fast track service is provided for potential GCA patients. This report aims provides complete picture frequency nature in GCA. Objectives 350 records consecutive patients diagnosed objectively with based on biopsy imaging were reviewed. In our centre, hospital pathway mandates all suspected cases have formal ophthalmology assessment including acuity, pupil exam full-dilated fundus assessment. Systemic Ophthalmic signs recorded. Methods From January 2012 September 2021, individuals by biopsy, ultrasonography positron emission tomography. mean age was 74 ± 7.7 years. 235 (67%) females. 101 (29%) presenting had and/or signs. 42 them mono-ocular 5 binocular vision. [Neurological manifestations of giant cell arteritis].
The article describes clinical, including neurological manifestations, of giant cell arteritis (GCA) - granulomatous vasculitis of large and medium-sized vessels, predominantly craniofacial, including precerebral and cerebral, arteries. Histopathological features of GCA are illustrated by the schemes of panarteritis and «postarteritis» (proliferative and fibrotic changes in the intima, underlyi...
متن کامل“Extra-Cranial” Manifestations of Giant Cell Arteritis
Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a primitive systemic vasculitis related to a sub-acute inflammatory panarteritis, histologically characterized by segmentary and plurifocal damage, with giant cells and destruction of the internal elastic lamina. GCA involves large and medium sized vessels in subjects over 50, particularly between 75 and 85, and is more common in women (7:3sex-ratio). This arteriti...
متن کاملGiant-cell arteritis without cranial manifestations
Diagnosis of giant-cell arteritis (GCA) is challenging in the absence of cardinal cranial symptoms/signs. We aimed to describe the clinical presentation, diagnostic process, and disease course of GCA patients without cranial symptoms, and to compare them to those of patients with typical cranial presentation. In this retrospective multicenter study, we enrolled patients with GCA who satisfied a...
متن کاملHistopathologic Features of Giant Cell Arteritis in an Actinic Granuloma Lesion
The association between actinic granuloma and giant cell arteritis (temporal arteritis) has been claimed by some authors. There is a hypothesis that actinic radiation has the principal role in the etiology of both diseases in a similar way. Here, we report a case of actinic granuloma that had characteristic pathologic features of giant cell arteritis in histopathologic examination without clini...

OBJECTIVE To study the clinical profile of patients with giant cell arteritis in Mumbai. METHODS From our database, patients with a diagnosis of giant cell arteritis (GCA) over a fifteen year period (January 1990 to December 2005) were included. Clinical manifestations, temporal artery biopsy, treatment, and follow-up data of these patients were analyzed. RESULTS Twenty one patients with GC...
